  The reason I ask is because we have been working on my side of the Burroughs (Burris) family and I have 3 mar. papers that say that Solomon Murray Burris born 1833 is the son of Joshua and
  Jane Burris he was born to unmarried parents. He is living in the house hold of Solomon Burris Sr. when Solomon Sr. was order to bring him in to be bound out. But he was raised in his house hold. So we think that he was the son of Joshua and Jane Murray
  also that he is Judith's brother. there was another son in Jane's family but we can not find him. At the time Jane had these children she was living next door to Joshua Burris. He had children by another woman he was not married to also. He was a play boy. If this is true Jane would be my 4TH g grand mother. Also that would make him the old man Solomon and Judith Burris's grandson. Why else would he be taken in and raised as a son in their house hold? Solomon Sr. Died in 1845 but his daughter and her husband raised him. Also if you noticed the names of the children are the same as SOLOMON AND JUDITH BURRIS.

  Linda, yes I know about Soloman Murray/Burris who moved east near th
  e NC coast. He was married several times. A few of his older children remained in the Stanly/Cabarrus area and the rest moved to the eastern counties. One of his sons was a minister. His mother and father were not married. Jane never married. She had 3 children. If you are going by ancestry, they dont have an option for illicit relationships, so partners who produced children have to be put in as a spouse. Judith Wilmertha Murray married Thomas Poplin and they are buried in Lilesville. So is Jane. I did find the bastardy bond on Joshua Burris in the Stanly County court records.

  Oh Jane's son William Russell Murray was 'bound' to Mr. Russell in the early Stanly County court records. I found out most of the information on him from a descendant. Its been a while but I believe he moved to SC & then Georgia. He does show up in yhe 1850 census in the home of Mr. Russell. Mostly its assumed, since his middle name was Russell and that he grew up with the Russells, that Mr. Russell was hid father. There is no definate proof. Just Russell paying the bond and taking him in. It suggests 'guilt'. The Murrays are an interesting family to try to entangle, but they have a lot of descendants because of all the daughters. Jane, Kesiah and Moriah had illegitimate kids and my great great granny, Priscilla even had one after her husband died.
